ANTI SAG SUPPORT FOR RAILS
Anti sag support for side rails is used to prevent sagging and ensure rails provide an optimal fixing face for cladding. It also helps manage the torsional forces that exist if non restraining cladding is used.

Recommended procedures for anti sag installation in side rail system

Anti sag systems for standard rail applications are not designed to bear the full weight of cladding i.e. they provide limited support to help resist sag. It is essential that the installation of sheeting is carried out in such a way as to limit this load. The following work practices should be followed to prevent overloading.

Prior to sheeting anti sag components should be installed as follows:

• Temporary propping of the bottom rail should be provided. This provides support until the Tie Ropes are installed.
• The Tube Struts and Tie Ropes should be installed between the bottom two rails first and these levelled.
• Installation of the balance of Tube Struts can then progress upwards. Additional Tie Ropes may be added if required as installation progresses.

Sheeting should be installed as follows:
• Sheeting should commence at the stanchion and progress outwards to the centre of the bay. The cladding should be fully fixed as installation progresses.

Note: There are specific requirements for non restraining cladding. Refer to the section Anti sag for non restraining wall cladding for appropriate guidance.
