Propurlin
Propurlin detail The Propurlin range of purlins and sheeting rails have been designed in accordance with the requirements of BS 5950: Part 5: 1987.
To resist the effects of atmospheric corrosion, the Propurlin range of purlins and sheeting rails are manufactured in a high tensile quality, continuously hot dip zinc coated structural steel strip to EN 10147: 1992, grade Fe E 350 G coating designation 275 grms / m2.
Propurlin system detail The design of the Propurlin profile, with the vertical web element within the perimeter of the profile flanges, reduces the displacement of the principal axis to the vertical plane by a considerable amount, when compared with the plain zed profile of similar proportions. A typical Propurlin profile 175mm in depth has a displacement of the principal axis to the vertical plane of 4.9 degrees, whereas the plain zed profile deviates by 12.5 degrees.
Propurlin system detail In present day structural design a large proportion of rigid frame buildings are manufactured with roof slopes varying between 4 to 8 degrees. Profiles with principal axes deviations greater, or less than the roof slope, are subject to bi-axial bending about the major and minor axes when dead and superimposed, or wind loads, are applied to the structure. These bi-axial loads will tend to cause torsional deformation which will have a detrimental effect on the performance of the profile. The Propurlin with its lower angle of deviation will be more resistant to these bi-axial loads than a plain zed profile of similar proportions.
Propurlin system detail Propurlin has been computer designed to ensure the ultimate section for your requirements. Designed to B.S. 5950 part 5 with 75mm flanges on all section sizes for easy and fast sheeting on site. All Propurlins are manufactured to EN 10147: 1992, grade Fe E 350 G coating designation 275 grms / m2, prime quality galvanised steel with a minimum yield strength of 350 N/mm2.
